Lemosho approaches Kilimanjaro from the quieter western side, crossing genuine wilderness before joining the southern circuit. With 8 days on the mountain, it offers one of the best acclimatization profiles and summit success rates of any route.
Drive to the gate, trek through montane forest, approximately 6km.
Climb out of the forest onto the Shira Plateau moorland, approximately 8km.
Gentle walk across the plateau with panoramic views of Kibo, approximately 10km.
Acclimatization hike to Lava Tower (4,630m), descend to Barranco Camp.
Scramble up the Barranco Wall, short trekking day to Karanga.
Trek to base camp, rest and prepare for the summit push.
Midnight departure for Uhuru Peak (5,895m), descend to Mweka Camp (3,100m).
Final descent, certificates awarded, transfer to your hotel.
